About this role
Atria Senior Living seeks a Director of Culinary Services to lead kitchen and dining operations in a community where employees thrive and residents feel at home. This role oversees all culinary staff, ensuring high-quality meals and a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
Day-to-day responsibilities include managing schedules, hiring, training, and performance reviews for the culinary team. The Director meets regularly with residents and families to maintain satisfaction, works with the restaurant manager to elevate service, and assists with front and back of house operations as needed.
The culinary team collaborates closely to deliver exceptional food and service, with the Director delegating tasks to uphold cleanliness and quality standards. This role also ensures compliance with health codes, manages budgets, and maintains vendor relationships to control costs and inventory.

Requirements
- Five (5) or more years of culinary experience in the hospitality industry
- Proven ability to manage and supervise a culinary team, including hiring and performance management
- Knowledge of food preparation, storage, and service standards in compliance with state and local health codes
- Experience with budget management, including tracking food, supply, and labor costs
- Ability to work all stations in the kitchen and dining room as needed
- Strong vendor relationship management and purchasing standards adherence
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations and staffing for the kitchen and dining venues
- Supervise all Culinary Services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review, hiring, and corrective action
- Meet regularly with residents and family members to confirm high satisfaction levels are maintained
- Ensure front of house and back of house staff work together to deliver food that exceeds expectations
- Assist kitchen and restaurant staff with operations as needed, including working all stations
- Maintain monthly and annual budgets for the Culinary Services department, documenting spend on food, supplies, and labor
- Plan and develop recipes and menus based on resident preferences and monthly budgets
- Plan, prepare, and execute Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals
