About this role
Home Chef, a leading meal solutions company with both retail and online presence, is seeking a culinary production expert to lead kitchen operations for its ready-to-heat brand, Tempo. This temporary position, expected to last approximately 6 months, focuses on delivering the highest-possible quality meals to customers.
In this role, you will oversee product quality in a high-volume mass production kitchen, validating consistent premium taste, appearance, and performance of every meal. You will implement gold standards of food quality and safety, prepare weekly cook schedules, and coordinate with the production manager to ensure all ingredients are available when needed.
You will train, coach, and develop sous chef staff through weekly one-on-one sessions, supervise and evaluate employees, and develop training programs for all kitchen staff. Collaboration with corporate R&D chefs on ingredient and menu continuous improvement is a key part of the role, including attending weekly meetings to give feedback on recipes.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team at a company that values variety and innovation. With 5% travel required, you will play a critical part in ensuring the execution of new recipes and maintaining the highest standards in a fast-paced production environment.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and an obsession with providing customers the highest-possible quality meals
- Ability to train and lead a team of associates to consistently execute the culinary vision
- Experience overseeing product quality in a mass production kitchen
- Knowledge of gold standards of food quality and food safety
- Ability to coordinate with production managers to ensure ingredient availability
- Experience developing training programs and providing professional development opportunities for kitchen staff
- Ability to review meal ratings weekly and assess areas for performance improvement
- Proficiency in proper documentation and record keeping of lot information, CCPs, sensory results, and yields
Responsibilities
- Validate consistent, premium taste, appearance, and performance of every meal leaving our high-volume kitchen
- Implement and adhere to gold standards of food quality and food safety
- Prepare weekly cook schedules and review/approve payroll in collaboration with HR
- Train, coach, and develop sous chef staff, including weekly 1:1 sessions for their growth and development
- Supervise, evaluate, and train employees, ensuring sanitation and safety, menu planning, and related production activities
- Ensure the execution of new recipes, training and oversight of kitchen staff to implement new recipes, and collaborate with the R&D team to improve existing recipes
- Attend weekly meetings with R&D chefs in order to give feedback on recipes or ingredient specifications
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping of lot information, CCPs, sensory results, and yields
