About this role

The Executive Chef manages all aspects of the culinary and dining department, including retail sales, special events planning, food costs, inventory control, safety, sanitation, and resident, customer, and employee satisfaction. This role ensures high standards in a senior living environment focused on exceptional experiences.

Daily duties involve circulating dining rooms for resident feedback to achieve 100% satisfaction through plate presentation and taste. The Executive Chef establishes presentation techniques, oversees equipment maintenance, and enforces safety and sanitation policies.

Lead a culinary team by hiring, coaching, training, inspiring, and directing staff, including developing Sous Chefs and Lead Cooks for additional leadership duties. Function as Manager on Duty as scheduled with the site leadership team.

Requirements

  • Certified Executive Chef preferred
  • Minimum four years of industry and culinary management experience
  • Upscale dining experience required
  • Proven leadership abilities, commitment to customer service, strong organization and time management skills
  • Previous experience and proficiency with menu development and pricing
  • Experience in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Culinary labor, food, and small ware financial management experience

Responsibilities

  • Achieve 100% resident satisfaction through plate presentation and taste by circulating dining rooms at meal times daily for feedback
  • Establish presentation techniques and ensure quality standards
  • Hire, coach, train, inspire, and direct culinary staff while maintaining proper scheduling and employee reviews
  • Develop Sous Chef and Lead Cook to take on additional leadership and management duties
  • Manage food control, labor costs, menu engineering, recipe creation, and standardization for consistency
  • Ensure proper equipment operation, maintenance, safety, and sanitation policies in work areas
  • Oversee special catering events and demonstrate culinary techniques
  • Function as Manager on Duty as scheduled with site leadership team
