The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in the preparation and service of high-quality food for guests and staff. This role works under the guidance of the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Chef de Partie while contributing to efficient kitchen operations.
Assist in preparing ingredients and dishes as directed, following established cooking procedures and techniques aligned with health, safety, and food hygiene standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and equipment at all times. Support dishwashing, general cleaning, proper food storage with labeling, and basic tasks like chopping, peeling, and mise en place.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional conduct within the kitchen, supporting the team during peak service periods efficiently. Requirements
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety principles
- Previous experience in a kitchen or cooking role will be considered an advantage
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to different operational demands

Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes as directed by the Chef de Partie or Demi Chef de Partie
- Follow established cooking procedures and techniques in line with health, safety, and food hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment at all times
- Support dishwashing and general cleaning duties during and after service as required
- Ensure proper food storage practices, including correct labeling and safe handling of all products
- Perform basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, portioning, and mise en place
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional conduct within the kitchen
- Support the kitchen team during peak service periods by working efficiently and remaining well-organized
