About this role
Prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in restaurant and banquets. Performs duties including adjusting thermostat controls, measuring ingredients, and ensuring items are prepared according to recipes in a timely manner. Focuses on quality, guest satisfaction, and preventing waste.
Day-to-day tasks involve baking, roasting, broiling, steaming meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. Adds seasoning during mixing or cooking, tests foods by tasting, smelling, and piercing. Washes, peels, cuts vegetables and fruits, trims and bones meat prior to cooking.
Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies, sauces, and garnishes to fill orders. Follows proper procedures in handling food to meet health and sanitation guidelines. Uses tools and equipment safely, assists in unloading supplies, and maintains cleanliness in work areas.
Works in a professional environment adhering to KHC policies on dress code, safety, and performance standards. No supervisory responsibilities. Access to benefits like health insurance, DailyPay, and paid training after 60 days supports ongoing development.
Requirements
- Follow proper procedures in handling food to ensure health and sanitation guidelines are met
- Use tools and equipment properly to ensure safety and avoid injury or damage
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle, grasp or type; reach with hands and arms; taste or smell
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist; lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Occasionally climb or balance, push, pull or lift over 10 pounds up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
- Franchise specific certifications may be required
- Federal/state/local food handling certifications
Responsibilities
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
- Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking
- Cooks and tests foods by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork
- Ensures items are prepared according to recipes in a timely, efficient manner that prevents waste yet ensures quality and guest satisfaction
- Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings
- Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits; cuts, trims, and bones meat prior to cooking
