About this role

A Sous Chef provides supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service at Tamarack Resort. Duties include assisting the Head Chef in monitoring kitchen activities, expediting orders to ensure quality taste and presentation, and taking on additional responsibilities in the Head Chef’s absence.

You will prepare food items according to standard recipes while maintaining an organized and clean workstation. Proper storage of all food items meets sanitation standards, and you will complete opening and closing duties including setting up supplies, cleaning equipment, and inspecting storage areas.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years cooking and 6 months managing a full-service restaurant kitchen
  • Ability to work 45-55+ hours per week including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Full knowledge of all menu items, recipes, ingredients for flavor profiles, and advanced cooking techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with stable and progressive work history
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure while maintaining an efficient task-oriented schedule
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand advanced cooking directions
  • Problem-solving abilities, self-motivated, organized, and dedicated to exceptional food quality

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in monitoring kitchen activities and expediting orders to ensure quality taste and presentation
  • Prepare food items according to standard recipes while maintaining an organized and clean workstation
  • Properly store all food items to meet sanitation standards and inspect storage areas for organization and cleanliness
  • Complete opening and closing duties including setting up supplies and tools, cleaning equipment, and locking doors
  • Complete scheduled inventories, stock and requisition necessary supplies, and finish daily prep requisitions on deadline
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the team
  • Execute orders in a timely manner while accounting for all orders accurately and maintaining an efficient schedule under pressure
