San Jacinto College seeks a Part-Time Faculty - Pastry Chef to teach pastry chef related coursework. This role involves developing and delivering curriculum in pastry arts. Instructors are hired on an as-needed basis for specific course durations.

Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, conducting pastry demonstrations, and assessing student performance. Courses may be taught in evening or weekend formats to accommodate student needs. Faculty must be physically present at the assigned on-site work location.

Faculty join a pool of part-time instructors serving the culinary arts program at the North campus. Teaching assignments utilize various delivery methods based on the teaching area. Part-time employees are not entitled to full-time benefits but enjoy flexible scheduling.

This position offers the opportunity to share professional pastry expertise with aspiring chefs. Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed as openings arise. Successful instructors may receive recurring assignments based on program needs.

Requirements

Associate degree (or higher level degree) in Pastry and/or Culinary Arts.
At least three (3) years professional or teaching pastry/baking experience.
American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification (preferred).
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques including doughs, creams, and decorations.
Ability to create and implement course syllabi and lesson plans.
Understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

Teach pastry chef related course work.
Develop and deliver curriculum for pastry arts courses.
Conduct demonstrations and hands-on training in pastry techniques.
Evaluate student progress and provide feedback.
Prepare course materials, syllabi, and assessments.
Maintain a safe and organized kitchen lab environment.
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various delivery modes including in-person instruction.
Attend to course schedules including evening and weekend classes as assigned.
