About this role
As a Pastry Chef at Marriott International in Jeddah, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen workers. You will determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays to ensure proper portion, arrangement, and garnish.
Monitor the quantity of food prepared and inform Food & Beverage staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items. Prepare special meals or substitute items, assist cooks with various tasks, and maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program.
Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating employees while developing positive working relationships. Address guests’ service needs and speak with clear, professional language to support team goals. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
This role offers the opportunity to develop supervisory skills by assisting management with hiring, training, and coaching employees. You will ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards while maintaining kitchen logs for food safety.
Requirements
- Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree in culinary arts or related field.
- 4 to 6 years of related work experience in pastry or kitchen operations.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must maintain clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Ability to speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
