About this role

The Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. This role requires working in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively.

Day-to-day duties include setting up stations according to restaurant guidelines, preparing food items in the pantry, fry, or other stations, and following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications. The Cook must follow clean-as-you-go requirements, restock items throughout the shift, and assist with cleaning and organizing the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas.

The Cook works as a team member in a dynamic workplace, following all safety procedures and demonstrating flexibility to fill open shifts as needed. A high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment is essential, along with the ability to work efficiently and consistently under pressure.

This role offers the opportunity to lead by example with an eagerness to learn and to execute daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules. The Cook reports to the Chef or Sous Chef and may perform additional responsibilities as requested, contributing to a collaborative and safety-focused kitchen team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb.
  • Effective communication skills and highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner.
  • Set up station according to restaurant guidelines and follow clean-as-you-go requirements.
  • Prepare all food items as directed, following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
  • Restock all items as needed throughout shift and maintain station with good safety and sanitation practices.
  • Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and ensure quality and safety of food.
  • Open and close the station as per requirements and execute daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing.
